The Alamo Drafthouse, Denver gave a glimpse of the fun that is to come, to young and old, at Denver’s Sloan’s Lake. Pee-wee’s Big Adventure on a giant inflatable screen was the featured presentation on a beautifully warm Saturday evening. With anticipation of a new Drafthouse theater in the Colfax redevelopment, local families came out to experience the magic that Alamo creates. A photo-booth, face-painting, swag from local vendors and of course brats, dogs and beer were highlights for all.
Pre-show entertainment was provided by the Rock-A-Billy sounds of Jonny Barber and a Rhythm Razor. Jitter-bugging to songs of Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, The Everly Brothers and his trademark Elvis, dancing was a hit and culminated with a Pee-wee tribute “Dance-off” to Tequila. As darkness fell, the audience settled in for the fun and ridiculousness that the “Big Adventure” provides.
Proceeds from the event benefitted Girls Inc., which provides girls of Denver, the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the challenges they face.

Keyboards offered your virtuosos the opportunity to learn basic scales, tempo and theory of piano in a super-fun and creative setting. The class also included a giant floor keyboard where students learned scales by leaping from key to key. Based on participation, exploration and fun, Miss Melissa ensured keyboards was a huge success.
We can’t wait for the next session, which is guitar and scheduled to begin January 9th.

Leap Dance Studio is a wonderful place for children to discover the joys of dance. Elizabeth Ellis and her team of dedicated instructors have created fantastic opportunities for children to experience ballet, tap, hip-hop and creative movement in many locations around Denver.
The images here highlight Ballet I and represent the beginning of a series that will eventually cover all of the classes that Leap offers. This class is made up of 5 and 6 year old young ladies, eager to begin their lives as ballerinas. The energy outside of the studio, as the ladies await their invitation to enter, is fantastic. There is lots of bouncing, twirling and excitement that seems to materialize as soon as the magic shoes don precious feet. The students are very serious about their lessons as soon they will perform a season ending recital. A fitting culmination to lots of hard work and fun.
Our young daughter has been asked to act as the flower girl in our niece’s wedding and she couldn’t be more excited. A first stop on this fantastic journey was to look for a dress and the ladies at Marie James Dress Boutique in Bonnie Brae created the perfect experience for this young lady. Marie James offers a wonderful selection of beautiful dresses for wedding parties coupled with service that is unmatched.
Needless to say Elsa ran the show. She tried on every dress that was even close to her size. Sally, of Marie James, and Katie, of Weddings by Couture Consulting, tirelessly offered options and support throughout the entire show. The shop was quite busy on this particular afternoon and the other customers could only stop and watch as Elsa modeled, twirled and tested each fantastic dress. It will be very difficult to choose but luckily that decision is not entirely ours. Fortunately we got loads of good pictures.
