The Alamo Drafthouse, on south Santa Fe Drive, has a fabulous free summer outdoor film series going on now. Tuesday’s feature was Spielberg’s classic, E.T. and a crowd came out in force to watch under a beautiful Colorado night. Before the show, guests were treated to an extremely exciting bicycle stunt show, put on by the talented team from Plus Size BMX. Riders jumped, spun and flipped to the awe of the hundreds on hand and a couple of lucky fans got to get an ants eye view of what high flying jumpers can do. There was even a special appearance from Eliot and E.T. who took a wild ride over the jump. Prizes were liberally distributed to the screaming throngs and autographs were happily signed.
Participants had the opportunity to win prizes galore. The young one’s could create an E.T. communicator and attempt a Reese’s Pieces pick-up, complete with alien gloves. The Humane Society of the South Platte Valley sponsored an E.T. look-alike contest for those that brought their dogs and of course the “Draft House” had to hold a beer chugging contest for those old enough.
Giant Bicycles was on hand to provide a bike corral for those that opted to ride to this fantastic, family-friendly event. Be sure to check out the Alamo’s schedule for their remaining summer features. They are events not to be missed!
